Our Impact
How It Works
Our organization provides a high-quality, interactive, experimental summer camp for underprivileged and at-risk young men, ages 5-15, to develop and strengthen the positive bonds of youth to their families, schools, and communities. We employ certified teachers who lead the educational reading and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) components. Students participate in specialized training that includes health, nutrition, fitness instruction, and an exclusive Mock Trail experience.
VFE programs keep children safe and allow them to build what they have learned in school, explore new interests, and develop relationships with caring adults. Investing in our children now means investing in our future, and it’s one of the most prudent and cost-effective investments the public can make. Youth in educational, mentoring, and summer camps like VFE are half as likely to drop out of high school and two and half times more likely to attend college.
Our programs and services provide unique opportunities and exposure to effective intervention and prevention programs that address criminal activity affecting vulnerable youth daily. We strive to link participants with local law enforcement personnel and other professional, caring adults to create relationship-building opportunities to promote positive change and character in their lives. We also provide a high quality diversionary summer camp program for underprivileged and at-risk young men. VFE mentored more than 75 young men, ages 10-15 years old, for five weeks during the summer of 2015. The program is coordinated by certified Teachers right here in Jacksonville, FL.
